who stole your heart and the key?

In the dark, you taste something sweet and tart on your tongue, almost like apple but not quite: pomegranate juice, out of nowhere. A hint of something metallic accompanies it.

You fall down.

"I'll hold off the wasps while you go through the crack."

[She glances back at him and doesn't let go, walking forward fearlessly. What the hell why not, she's dead already.]

The buzzing of the wasps starts to fade, but--

"I'm gonna stay here, and check out the sword when I can. I'll catch up with you later, okay?"

His hand slips out of hers. "Have fun in there, all right? I'll try to come by if you need any help or get in trouble."

I can't let you out of my sight, what if a wandering helpless maiden comes by and you turn into a beast and attack her "oh no help!" "Fufufu you're mine now, that woman isn't here to save you!" "Eek! I'm done for!"

So you see, I'll have to keep you beside me or follow you.

"I can't leave the sword!" He sounds genuinely distressed about this.

Yes you can. Do you think a sword is necessary to save anyone?

"Of course it is!"

That's weakness. If you believe you can't save anyone without a sword than you won't be able to save them with it.

"What...?" For a beat, it seems like he might be listening. Then his tone grows impatient. "That doesn't make any sense! Sometimes you just need a sword to fight to save people."

"I could whack the wasps away if I had it."

[Just stares at him like that is very stupid and then takes her sword off her waist, handing it to him in the narrow passage.]

Now, come along.

But he's too entranced by having a cool sword to object fully, and he starts to push after her.

"Huff..." He's trying to drag the sword through the crack, straining to lift it.
