who stole your heart and the key?

In the dark, you taste something sweet and tart on your tongue, almost like apple but not quite: pomegranate juice, out of nowhere. A hint of something metallic accompanies it.

You fall down.

All around you, fire leaps up high into the air. Ahead, it rapidly becomes impassable. Even here, the heat of the flames sears your face and dries your throat.

Just before where the flames make it impossible to press forward is some kind of lump of debris. On top of it sits a young woman.

[Even for her, this is a little too warm. She removes her coat and shields her eyes with her hand while she walks - until she can't make it any further. Then she stops.

She'd wave if her hands weren't full.]

She's barely a woman--little more than a girl. But she is pretty. She wears her long black hair half down and half in two tails at the sides of her head. It's hard to make out exactly what she's wearing--her long gown glints and glitters as if lit by stars, but there are no stars here.

She keeps her head up, trying to gaze above the flames, but tears glitter in her eyes.

"What is it...?"

She sniffles a little, clearly trying to stop her tears. "You have to get past the flames, obviously."

"Don't you think I know that?" Even half-crying, she can snap. "You'll have to find a way to dowse them, obviously."

It didn't seem that you did. They've already grown so large - how would I douse them?

She glares. "That should be obvious, too!"

A tear rolls down her face and falls to the ground. It hits a flame, which goes out instantly.

If you're unable to do something so simple as shedding tears, perhaps you would rather burn to death. If you don't want to die, then you should cry more.

What she's sitting on is not, in fact, just junk. It's a pile of seven swords, somehow arranged so they can be safely sat upon.
