who stole your heart and the key?

In the dark, you taste something sweet and tart on your tongue, almost like apple but not quite: pomegranate juice, out of nowhere. A hint of something metallic accompanies it.

You fall down.

You're able to gain some stability, but where are you going to go? There are a multitude of passages branching off from this main tunnel, and it's impossible to make out which one the sound comes from.

[ ...picks a random one ]

As you move down the tunnel, a hideous black ooze begins to seep out of the walls and floor.

Ew. That's not a good sign.

[ trying to avoid that as he keeps going down the tunnel ]

It's impossible to avoid completely, but there's a path where it's shallow and won't get on anything worse than your shoes. To the side of that path, though, it's deeper. And...

...something emerges from the muck.

A multitude of grasping, naked limbs, legs and arms (maybe a tentacle or two?), all of them shapely and attractive.

[ trying to avoid as much potential contamination as possible, though he instinctively reels back with wide eyes and a startled sound at the sight of the...thingy. what that means for what he ends up stepping in/on, well... ]

Muck splashes as he steps back, sticking and clinging to his pants leg.

It looks like there's fewer disembodied limbs up ahead, at least.

[ making a run for that, then, uncaring of the splashing muck ]

The black ooze slowly begins to recede as you move on, but it still clings to the floor, wet and sticky. You haven't fully emerged from it when the sound of the song suddenly sharpens, and you can make out where it's coming from--a passage just up ahead.

[ PUSHING FORWARD, THEN ]

The passageways widen into a full, echoing cavern here, with multiple tunnels leading off from the sides. An arch of stone twists across the cave high above, and perched atop it is a young girl, no more than ten or so, with white hair and a white nightgown. She's the one singing.

There are three swords stabbed through her heart, and blood drips down to the floor from her body. Drip. Drip. Drip.

[ bites off the instinctive reaction to call out to her, concerned it'll startle her into falling-- more importantly is to get up there with her. Is there any way he can climb up there? ]

Not with normal human abilities. As an acrobat, he might be able to scramble his way up the walls and onto the narrow bridge of rock, though?

[ GOING TO MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO DO THAT, THEN ]

He can make it up, though it's a perilous climb, and the girl just keeps singing.

[ gonna sit himself carefully down next to her ]

Hi.

Her singing trails off. She doesn't look at him, but she does respond. "Hello, hello!"

You're injured. ...May I help?

She smiles brightly. "I can't be helped."

[ gestures, a little helplessly ]

The swords?

"Oh, I'm already dead."

Doesn't it hurt?

"Everything in this place hurts. This is Hell, after all."

[ ooooh... ]

What would happen if the swords came out?
