who stole your heart and the key?

In the dark, you taste something sweet and tart on your tongue, almost like apple but not quite: pomegranate juice, out of nowhere. A hint of something metallic accompanies it.

You fall down.

"It's okay if you believe that, but--" He turns just a little to give her a bright, sweet smile. "I'm going to become one all the same."

A distant rumbling roar of deep, pained distress echoes throughout the land. It seems to come from both above and below at the same time.

"I'm cooking, of course. We're going to have a family dinner."

She doesn't protest, but after a minute or so of cooking, she pulls one of the swords out of the pot and holds it out to him. "You're going to need this if you want to keep going. It'll provide light!"

Indeed, it seems to be glowing faintly.

[ Saber waves a hand in the kid's direction in disgust. ]

If you're going to damn yourself to a hell of your own making, I'm not going to stop you. But don't say no one warned you.

He makes an annoyed noise and just goes back to pulling on the sword.

[ Saber ditches the guy and starts examining the crack in the ground. Are there any rocks on the ground nearby? ]

"He...might be a little late." She looks wistful for a moment. "But we'll wait."

"Well, no. You guys are dead, right? You don't need food. But pick me up something if there's a market in there, okay?"

Sure, there are some pebbles and stuff. Nothing too huge.

The crack is just barely wide enough for a person to fit through, but it widens up ahead. A dull red glow comes from deep within, as does the scent of brimstone. Right above the crack, a ragged red banner flutters, bearing an indecipherable symbol in gold upon it. That marking is oddly alien in this place.

There's a resounding crack as--not the sword but the stone breaks.

Cracked, it starts to fall to pieces. The young man frowns a little. "Wait a second, that wasn't what I..."

For a moment, it seems like nothing will happen--save for the boy being annoyed with you, of course. And then—

— a swarm of wasps emerges from the broken rock, with a vengeance.

Hm. [She grabs for the boy and tries to yank him back so they can, you know, run from the wasps.]

Are you running towards or away from the crack leading down?
